NBCUniversal is one of the world's leading media and entertainment companies in the development, production, and marketing of entertainment, news, and information to a global audience. I provide UX Design in the Central London offices on a new SVoD service.

Key Points
  • The project consists of a specialist subscription video on demand (SVoD) service, launched in 2016 in three countries before expanding with a road map of new features and functionality, more territories and languages.
  • The SVoD service launched on mobile and tablet devices for iOS and Android, as well as the web (including responsive versions).
  • TV apps will follow: TiVo, (the new) Apple TV, YouView and Roku.
  • UX Design work covers all aspects of the apps, TV and website, including the challenges of a consistent experience of the service across these different platforms.
  • UX Research involves focus groups on service features and app beta testing.

Client: YouGov (acquired Opigram / CoEditor Ltd)
Sep 2013 – present

Continued working with the former CEO of CoEditor Ltd (see Career History below), now currently the Chief Digital Officer of YouGov PLC. Designs created for YouGov are exposed to over 150,000 registered users (UK site) as well as non-registered visitors.

Key Points
  • Designed the global YouGov web presence during a time of strategic change. Independent departments (and their designs) were consolidated within one overall design. The UK site ( launched in November 2014, followed quickly by the US site and then the German site in March 2015.
  • Responsive design and UX delivered across four platforms (Desktop, Landscape Tablet, Portrait Tablet and Mobile).
  • Consult with the technical development team on translating visuals and design thinking into highly-crafted user interfaces and experiences that utlise relevant animation and feedback.
  • Consult on UX, UI, best practice and accessibility during ongoing site development as a result of feedback, user data and changes in business objectives.
  • Worked with the marketing departments in all three countries to improve the delivery of online content.

Oct 2010 – present

Atticmedia are a Top 100 New Media Agency that specialises in the public, culture and education sectors with a particular specialism in kids and youth. Designs are provided for a variety of projects and work is frequently done with the Head of Client Services to deliver new business pitches.

Key Points
  • Created designs for over seventy proposals - some crucial to pitch success.
  • Supported proposal documents with relevant, well-thought through concepts and designs, delivered quickly and efficiently.
  • Worked on over a hundred projects with varying degrees of design requirements, duration and media. Mostly visual designs for complete websites and mobile apps, but also infographics, line drawings, photo montages, animations and print work.

Client: CoEditor Ltd
Oct 2010 – Sep 2013
CoEditor Ltd was a joint start-up venture with YouGov PLC, which developed a new platform called "Opigram", which connected people based on their opinions and experiences of brands, products, politicians, celebrities, media and more. Worked closely with the CEO and the technical team to deliver the ongoing (and usually complex) design and user experience of the platform with wireframes, design and production work. After September 2013, Opigram was bought outright by YouGov and the CoEditor team was absorbed.

Dec 2007 – Dec 2008
Created wireframes and designs for clients such as TeachersTV, BBC, and the Quality Improvement Agency (QIA). For QIA, led the successful delivery of Flash interactives, managing a team of two designers and two Flash developers.

Kibook Ltd
Sep 1999 – Oct 2012
Co-founded and ran this small design business which employed two to seven staff plus freelancers. Developed all-round commercial skills including digital consultancy, client services, project scoping and specification and team management, in addition to visual design, information architecture, user experience design and front-end coding. Main clients included Hitachi, Harper Collins and SAP.

Sep 1998 – Sep 1999
Entered the industry as a freelancer, working on projects for multimedia agencies such as The Hub, HCC De Facto and Diverse Interactive. Brands worked with included Comet, Madame Tussauds, Nikon and the British Museum.

Martial Arts

Has had a life-long interest in Chinese Martial Arts. Trained in Chin Woo Kung Fu and Modern Wushu at the British Institute for Chinese Martial Arts and other styles, from an early age. Began Yang-Style Tai Chi at the start of 2015.


Won Bronze Medal in the 2002 BCCMA National Championships in the Traditional Short Weapons (Broadsword) category.


British Chinese Culture

Volunteered on the board of Directors of The British Chinese Project, which helps to integrate more British Chinese people into politics. Supported by the UK Chinese Embassy, representatives from the House of Lords and the House of Commons, and a variety of organisations and Chinese community groups.
