It's not often that I like writing about myself - I definitely prefer to let my work do the talking. But after a decade I've gotten used to the fact that self promotion is essential to create a "brand" - one that's worth investing in.

If you did invest in "Mark Wu", you would get a unique take on design - a stylistic but considered visual aesthetic cultivated by a stimulating mix of East Asian and British multicultural ingredients. Does that sound good? As I said, I prefer to let my work do the talking.

Anyhow, I've been drawing all my life and after a reluctant induction to the digital world back in 1997, I've never looked back. I have happily managed to make a decent and fulfilling living as a digital designer, having co-founded a design company early on in my career.

Those days were "interesting" and I'm now nowhere near as naive as I used to be...

I work best when creating and developing digital "worlds", preferably with a synergy of visual style and creative programming.

What I really mean is that I like both design and programming and I like to get stuck into the code.

I could create something that has a bit of movement and colour, but I'm equally passionate about clean lines, white space and simplicity - especially when that is the best approach for a design solution.

When it comes to inspiration, there is so much. Inspiration can come from John Maeda's thinking to Si Scott's decorative swirls, the quirkiness of Kozyndan's illustration work to the saturation of Lachapelle's candy coated photography. Historical or contemporary, real or virtual life - I don't discriminate.

I am British Born Chinese and pretty happy to be, although that doesn't automatically mean I speak multiple Chinese dialects.

I've lived in London most of my life, but am currently spending 2009 - 10 in East Asia. I've been a barman, sold DIY products, been a film extra in a scene with Brad Pitt, sparred with Darth Maul and spun my way to a National Wushu Bronze Medal.

I am an Interactive Associate of Yellow Earth Theatre and a core member of The British Chinese (Political) Project as well as a past member of the ICA's Cultural Entrepreneur's Club. I was also a Trustee of The Pearl Foundation in 2007.

Oh, and did I mention I prefer to let my work do the talking?
